Do you have to remove the plug when charging is complete or does the box switch itself off? What happens if you leave it plugged in overnight, is that dangerous or will the car be damaged? Is it possible to overcharge?

No, there's no problem, it's the percentage set on the car that counts. If the charge limit on the car is set at 80%, the charger stops automatically.
I leave the charger plugged in all the time and only unplug it when there's a storm.
