Do you connect the device to the mobile phone via Bluetooth?
Works perfectly.
Plug in, (ignition/engine) must be switched on.
Select the frequency on the radio (the 88.1 preset on the adapter works fine for me).
Select the adapter name (FSMYFM2) on the smartphone under Settings/Bluetooth, play music.
