Do I understand correctly that the rear indicator is built into the mudguard and is therefore not really visible from behind? Is the assembly easy for a layman?

No, there are no indicators in the mudguard, only on the handlebars

Only reflectors at the rear. Indicators only at the ends of the handlebars. Assembly easily feasible for laymen yes.
