You can try it but it won't hold.
There's a round magnet 🧲 in the top of the charger and a small straight magnet at the bottom.
This is the one that holds the phone in its upright position.
If you turn the phone from its portrait position to its landscape position without turning the charger, the phone is no longer held by the small magnet and will not keep its landscape position for long.
