Phanteks Universal PWM fan hub
8 Fan
Can you control each fan individually?
no, that's not how this device works and it's not possible (except if the device had some kind of USB connection and dedicated drivers, which is not the case). This device connects to a single PWM fan header on the motherboard. That header has one pin that transmits one tachometric signal, thereby indicating the current fan speed, and one pwm pin to regulate the speed of the fan. The other two pins are +12V and ground.
So you can only ever control the speed of one fan with just one header, and only receive the information about current rpm for one fan.
What this device does is distribute the signal to all the fans connected to it. Regardless of whether you connect a PWM or non-PWM fan, the device will take the PWM signal and adjust it for all the fans.
So, effectively, the device will dynamically adjust the speed of all the fans connected to it, but you can see the speed of only one fan, and you cannot see the speed of the other fans nor control them individually.
It's easier to only connect identical PWM fans to the PWM headers on the device (ignoring the 3-pin headers) and this way, you can be sure that they will all behave more or less the same.
That is not possible.
