Can you connect an iPad (or computer) to the usb-c socket to play content or is it only used to charge the battery?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to use the USB-C socket to connect a device for projection. The USB-C socket is only used for charging. The USB-A socket can be used to connect a USB stick for projection.
