Can I project the iPhone onto the projector via an hdmi cable?

I don't have an iPhone but I share the screen with my Android mobile and it works wonderfully. So I don't need a cable at all.
I've only done this once, as my use cases are fully covered with the integrated apps, but yes, it works.
