Can I now actually connect this repeater via LAN so that the wifi point-to-point connection is obsolete? And roaming will then work?

Yes, the extender can also be connected to the LAN as an access point. And roaming also works, of course. (By the way, pretty much any WLAN router can be used as an access point. Just deactivate the DHCP server of the WLAN router and connect the network cable to one of the (four) LAN ports (the access point should of course have the same SSID as the main device with the activated DHCP server)! Then roaming works as well as with the EX8000. This way you can continue to use an existing device and you have saved the CHF 190 for the extender :-)).

Halo Sopur, have you tested this now? Does it work?

The Netgear EX8000 Nighthawk X6S Mesh Extender can be operated in so-called access point mode. Simply connect it with the network cable (LAN) and then run the Netgear installation wizard. Everything is well described in a second instruction booklet (Other functions).
