TomTom Adhesive discs
Can I also use the adhesive discs on glass? The suction cup on my sat nav mount has given up the ghost, but the sat nav (Tomtom GO 1000 LIVE) still runs perfectly. I don't really want to have to change the sat nav because of a "lazy" suction cup.... Thanks for the answer.
I used the TomTom adhesive disc to have a smooth surface on the dashboard of a VW Golf (rough plastic surface). For a better long-term hold, I fixed the TomTom adhesive disc to the dashboard surface with superglue and did not just use the self-adhesive pad of the adhesive disc, which can peel off (and had also peeled off spontaneously). However, you also need a suction cup in this case. If the suction cup no longer sucks in (rubber no longer tight) but is otherwise intact, you can also fix the suction cup to the adhesive disc with superglue. This works well. If the suction cup is otherwise mechanically defective (e.g. the holder is broken), it will not work.
The adhesive disc does not replace a suction cup. At most, it replaces the place where you let the suction cup suck on. A windscreen replacement, so to speak. If the holder is defective, I would ask Digitec's customer service if they can organise a replacement or make something.
The adhesive cups on glass certainly work. But the suction cup itself still has to work well, of course.
If I understand this correctly, the suction cup is defective. Then this won't work because the windscreen is only fixed around a fixed point on an uneven surface such as roughened plastic or artificial leather. If the suction cup no longer holds, you have no choice but to order a new one from your local dealer.
