Can I also connect the 55" to my 49" monitor and technically change it to a 32:9 format using software?

You cannot configure the quotient in the software. But it's not that important because the light is like glowing puddles on your wall. My Gradient Lightstrip is behind 3x 28" monitors (ratio = 16:3) and in videogames it's really good.

This lightstrip is 216.50 cm long, so you have to measure if it fits behind your screen.
