NEIN! Only the parent unit can be used with batteries. Moreover, the answer by Philips is misleading. Philips AG must delete or correct their answer because if you ask "Sind beide teile kabellos zu verwenden?", the answer can't be "JA, bei diesem Gerät kann AUCH die Elterneinheit ...". Their comment made me purchase it and I am disappointed.
