Can anyone tell me why the M.2 has the same transfer rates as the SSD? The point of the M.2 is that it reads at 2280 MB/s and writes massively faster than an SSD. Error @ Digitec?
Hi Daneras. You must have misunderstood something completely. M.2 is only the interface, nothing more... Just like SATA. The others you mean are connected via PCIe (NVMe). And your number 2280 is the dimension of the SSD itself (22mm width x 80mm length).
If you want faster ones, you have to go for the Samsung 960 EVO or Pro, for example.
Kind regards,
Titian
As tizian wrote, m.2 is an interface. some of the m.2 ssds use nvme or pcie to transfer, but this one uses sata and that transfer technology doesn't allow for more. however, if you compare the prices, this one is about the same price as a 2.5" ssd.
The interface alone says nothing about the speed. It only says what maximum speeds are possible.
I once received a USB stick as a promotional gift. It had USB2.0 written on it, but at only 3mb/s.
