Can anyone tell me if the 980 can also have these rather loud notification sounds set to silent? Would be handy at night, we have been woken up when it didn't dock correctly... "charge Roomba...!!!".

I don't quite understand your question. Although the beeps are not supposed to be loud at night, can the Roomba run at night? The Roomba is anything but quiet and is rather annoying for us at night. In any case, as far as I know, you can't turn down the warning tones. Warning tones should be able to give a hint and make a sound accordingly.
