Can anyone here tell us about their own experiences with it? Does the thing really work with cable TV from Quickline? Can you actually record two cable programmes at the same time?
Thanks for the interesting answer. I had a PCI E card in the big PC (noisy box under the desk) for TV reception. Now I have a small, fine solution, but without a PCI E slot. The card in the slot also had only one antenna connection, but 2 tuners. It was possible to record 2 programmes at the same time with the DVB Viewer recording service. That's why I asked about my experience with a previously unusable stick from Terratec.
I have this USB stick on the Synology DS218+ and UPC Cablecom router. I got it because with the new DSM7.0 the TV Butler and Sundtek Media III no longer work. Under DSM 6.2 both worked perfectly, Sundtek even great. Now Sundtek is no longer visible and TV_Butler no longer finds any channels. This Hauppauge is visible and usually finds 7 channels, and loses them again immediately. From this point of view, it could work very well under DSM 6.2 and will hopefully soon do so under DSM 7.0. The only one that still works properly for me is the Fritz DVB-C. However, it is no longer available. However, this is no longer available. From my point of view, the Hauppauge is the most promising of all those available.
I don't know Quickline, but cable TV from Breitband.ch works fine for me. You can only watch or record ONE programme because the stick only has one tuner built in!
The stick works for UPC Cablecom.
I cannot say whether it works for Quickline. Basically, the stick can only receive programmes that are not encrypted. This means that the cable operator must not have basic encryption (which Cablecom used to have and has since abolished).
Strictly speaking, the answer to the question of 2 cable programmes at the same time is yes, although the tendency is more towards no.
As long as both cable channels are broadcast on the same frequency, the "DVB Viewer" (which I also bought as a recording programme) can record them. However, since there are only a few channels on a cable frequency and which ones are together is also pure coincidence and can change at any time, you can't rely on it.
I rather suspect that the statement about the 2 recordings refers to DVB-T (i.e. antenna) and DVB-C (cable). I have never tried whether it is really possible to record in parallel. According to "DVB Viewer", however, this could be possible, as the stick offers 2 separate receivers according to the driver.
