As asked some time ago, I have now installed the charge controller in order to charge my consumer battery via the alternator and additionally with the solar system. This works very well so far. Among other things, the D250SE should ensure that the voltage of the starter battery does not drop too low (trickle charge) as long as that of the consumer battery is high enough. Now it has already happened twice that the starter battery was empty (ignition forgotten). The "trickle charge" function did not work. I measured the voltage with a voltmeter and a clamp ammeter. Does anyone have any advice? Where can I go to get help?

According to the instructions, the "trickle charge" charges the starter battery with the help of the solar system when the supply battery is full.
If the ignition was switched on overnight, the trickle charge will not help because the sun does not shine at night and the solar system cannot charge the starter battery.
By the way, in modern cars or camper vans, amperes flow when the ignition is switched on (via about a dozen control units, radio, daytime running lights, navigation system, etc.). This means that a starter battery will run down in a few hours or at least no longer be able to start the engine.
