Are whatsapp messages also signalled? or even displayed?

In the app on the mobile, you can choose which messages (i.e. WhatsApp or iO or SMS) are to be signalled. So you have to limit yourself to one messaging app....
On an Android it's only SMS or calls. I have never seen Whatsapp!
WhatsApp is not signalled for me. Incoming calls and text messages are. Unfortunately, I could not understand Jean-Pierre Cotting's answer in the app. I can't find the selection whether WhatsApp, iO or SMS should be signalled anywhere...
