Are there commuters who travel with this part? Have you ever had any complaints from the train staff? As far as I know, the staff don't say anything if it is folded and stowed away or takes up little space, which is possible with this scooter according to the pictures. Has anyone here had any experiences that he/she could share? Many thanks

Helpful answer

Hello Anterdogan

I only rode the train once and that was enough. You completely underestimate the size and weight of the model. It is much too big to ride a train, does not fit under the seats and is extremely heavy.

In my opinion, an excellent device, but not to take on public transport.

I was recently travelling by train from Brig in the Valais (July 2020). At the ticket control, the SBB employee explained to me that I would have to buy a ticket for the electric scooter (Segway Ninebot MAX G30D), even if it was being transported folded up. However, if I were to transport it packed, I would not have to buy a ticket for the scooter. She knows that hardly anyone within SBB is aware of this provision. Often, even at SBB counters, people give the wrong information. She showed me the SBB internal guidelines on her smartphone, which were clear to me. Because I was only travelling a short distance, the employee did not charge me for a bicycle ticket.

An internet search revealed that electric scooters are accepted as hand luggage (last sentence of 6.1.3 "other driving devices") if they are packed and can be stowed as hand luggage. See also note on electric scooters in point 7.4.1.
The regulations also state that I may not place the packed scooter in the area for bicycles if there is no more space available.

Dear @Anterdogan

From the legislator's point of view, this e-scooter is equivalent to a bicycle. Consequently, it can also be considered as such in public transport, unless the public transport operator prohibits the transport. Public transport operators offer bicycle compartments in which bicycles can be transported. Many of them require a bicycle ticket.

Many greetings

Basically, there are hardly any concerns from the staff if you carry it sensibly. I had exactly one journey where the conductors often had to let off some steam. I simply packed it away for a short time and because I had to get up anyway, I demonstratively loaded it on. Since then, it has been accepted without restriction.
