According to irobot's product comparison page, the suction power of the new j7+ is 4 times weaker than that of the "old" s9+, is that so? Why do they no longer use the square design that was advertised on the s9+ for "special cleaning of corners"? What happens to the pictures the j7 takes of my home? How are they transferred and where and for how long are they cached?
Hello Dynamic94
Thank you for your questions. The suction power of the new Roomba j7+ is the same as that of the Roomba i7 and is therefore 10 times the suction power of the Roomba 600 series. The Roomba s9+ in the square design has 40 times the suction power of the Roomba 600 series. The design of the Roomba j7+ is almost completely the same as the Roomba i-Series. The models differ, however, in that the Roomba j7+ recognises and avoids objects thanks to Precision Vision Navigation, such as cables in the home office. You can control whether or not Roomba sends you images via the app in the settings. All images are fully encrypted - both during transmission and when the robot is idle. Images of objects the robot encounters during a cleaning job are sent to the cloud where they are backed up and can be viewed through the iRobot Home app. After 30 days, the images are deleted from the server. In addition, the user can provide one or more images to iRobot's machine learning database, which is used to improve the variety of obstacles Roomba j7+ can detect to improve the robot's ability to avoid hazards and complete cleaning tasks. Once you, the user, share an image or images, the image is anonymised and sent to a database of aggregated images that contain only basic metadata. You as a user can decide at any time whether or not to share the images from the database. By the way, if the robot detects people during a cleaning process, these images are automatically deleted. These pictures are then neither passed on to you as a user nor to iRobot.
