Question about Gigabyte GA-Z790 GAMING X AX (1700) (D)

A friend has ordered this motherboard and installed an I7 14700k. The first M.2 slot and the graphics card slot do not work. The graphics card was tested on the old PC and runs without any problems. M.2 SSD had to be installed in the lower 3 slots and was then recognised by the mainboard. Is the mainboard defective or the lanes of the CPU? Can anyone help me?

Is the correct bios version installed? Since the z790 was made for the 13 gen, it may still be running an old bios version that does not support 14 gen. Otherwise I can't help either.

You need at least BIOS version F6. (3. Supports and powers up Intel next generation processors)
However, it would be better to always use the latest version, in this case F9b.

How did you manage the bios update? Did you need a different CPU than the I7 14700k? Thank you for your help.
