3. Weber Verlag Rhätische Bahn RhB postcard box

Since 1889, fascinatingly different on the move. The decision of transport policy in 1869/71 in favor of the Gotthard railway was a severe blow to the canton of Graubünden. With the opening of this international railway line in 1882, the mountainous canton fell into a deep depression: practically overnight, a significant source of income vanished. The once-thriving trade across the Alpine passes of Julier, Septimer, Splügen, and Bernhardin had meant prosperity and earnings for a large part of the population since the Middle Ages. It was a Dutchman who shook the grieving people of Graubünden awake. Willem Jan Holsboer's idea of a railway in Graubünden was convincing. In 1887, he succeeded in founding, financing, and starting the construction of the first railway line in Graubünden, the narrow-gauge railway from Landquart to Davos, which was opened in 1889. Graubünden owes the realization of this efficient mountain railway to his pioneering spirit.

4. Weber Verlag Art Card Box Franz Marc

Franz Marc (1880 - 1916) is regarded today as one of the most significant German Expressionists of the early 20th century. As a co-founder of the editorial community "The Blue Rider," he distanced himself from traditional concepts of art and transitioned from the naturalistic style of his early works to greater abstraction. Influenced by Paul Gauguin, Vincent van Gogh, and Robert Delaunay, Franz Marc began to paint in a more expressive and vibrant manner. His extensive body of work, despite his early death, is characterized by the recurring theme of animal representations. For example, "The Tiger," "The Yellow Cow," and "Blue Horse I" are among his most famous paintings. We present these and many other works by Franz Marc in this carefully designed postcard collection and the booklet "Franz Marc. Life and Work.".

7. Weber Verlag Art Card Box Cuno Amiet

Cuno Amiet is one of the most versatile and significant Swiss artists and is regarded today as a pioneer of modernism in Switzerland. His inclusion in the artist association "Die Brücke" solidified his importance as a representative of the avant-garde in European art. Numerous works from his impressive body of work are housed in international museums and art collections. Amiet's charismatic personality was grounded in nature and tradition, combined with a great courage for change and an openness to the new and extraordinary. As a great humanitarian, regardless of gender, ethnic origin, nationality, or religion, he was interested in the individuals he always treated with respect. Amiet understood his art as a precise, symphonic composition of colors and described it as follows: "To distinguish warm colors from cold ones, to separate them cleanly, to know their tonal value, to give a color its character by placing a specific other next to it, and to let it bloom and glow, whether applied thickly or thinly, in broad layers or stippled, perhaps serving its purpose better. Learning, testing, and recognizing these and many other artistic techniques takes time and demands equal parts of head, heart, and hand." The virtuoso colorist Cuno Amiet is referred to as a master of color. He is much more than a mere performer of color effects. His works are felt humanly and experienced poetically. Let yourself be captivated by Amiet's world of colors while viewing this representative selection of his works.

9. Weber Verlag Art Card Box Claude Monet

Claude Monet (1840 - 1926) was one of the most significant French painters and is considered the epitome of Impressionism. His painting "Impression, Sunrise," exhibited in 1874, established this new style and gave it its name. His two great loves were painting and nature. He wanted to be as close to the latter as possible, which is why he primarily painted outdoors. He aimed to capture the fleeting moments of nature and to depict light, shapes, and colors as his eyes perceived them. He sought to capture and reproduce the various natural light effects and influences. Therefore, he often painted the same scene multiple times, at different times of the day and year. Immerse yourself in the fascinating work of Claude Monet with this postcard box and the booklet "Claude Monet. Life and Work.".
