Would buy again

Ordered 2x 12TB and they are now running for a good 1 year in my Synology DS-718+ (RAID 1).
At the beginning I hear irregular squeaking (as if the read head is scratching). To be honest, I ignored it and kept checking to
see if any errors were detected on the hard drives. Since everything has run well so far and the situation has not worsened, everything continues to run as usual. The performance is great, although only a 1Gbit network, but with small files that doesn't play such a big role and I'm still happy. The access times are great and files such as pictures, documents or installation files for programmes (which sometimes also consist of many small files) are loaded and transferred quickly. I might buy another disc for external backups, in case both of them crash at the same time.

Price-performance top and, to be honest, I wouldn't go back to WD Red. I don't see any point in putting more money into the HDDs if the quality is still right.

Were the WDs noticeably quieter? I specifically chose the WD because of the volume and power consumption.

Believe me, if the reading head were to "scratch" somewhere, you would have noticed it long ago ;-)
