If you don't have the upgrade, Lenovo will (unfortunately and according to my own experience) put you off and turn you away. With the upgrade, they do everything to make sure you are satisfied (also based on my own experience). That's why it's quasi compulsory, it's part of it. Even though Lenovo are very reliable. They also produce on Mondays....
