Cat 6A cables are designed for operating frequencies of up to 500 MHz. They are used for signal transmission with high data transfer rates of up to 10 Gbps. Due to the high signal frequencies, special care is required during installation and assembly, particularly at the connection points of the wires. The individual wire pairs in Cat 6A cables are twisted with varying tightness, which further reduces susceptibility to interference compared to Cat 5e. Applications for Cat 6A cables include voice and data transmission as well as multimedia and ATM networks.
