Cat6 cables are designed for operating frequencies up to 250 MHz. They are used for signal transmission with high data transfer rates (1 Gbps). Due to the high signal frequencies, careful installation and assembly are essential, especially at the connection points of the wires. The individual wire pairs in Cat6 are twisted with varying tightness, which further reduces susceptibility to interference compared to Cat5e. Applications for Cat6 cables include voice and data transmission, as well as multimedia and ATM networks. Even more powerful are cables conforming to Cat6e (500 MHz) and Cat6a (625 MHz).
