The Wimberley AP-554 replacement foot is designed for Nikon 500 mm f/4 AF-S lenses (Models I, II, and VR) as well as 200-400 mm f/4 AF-S (VR) lenses, providing a precise fit at the rotating collar. It lowers the center of gravity to improve balance with gimbal heads like the Wimberley Head or Sidekick, enhancing stability during photography. With a greater height than the AP-553 model, it offers more distance between the lens body and the foot while also serving as a functional handle. The foot measures 129.5 mm in length and supports better balance with smaller DSLR camera bodies, maintaining compatibility with Nikon professional and prosumer cameras as well as use with teleconverters. Constructed through finite material analysis, it achieves an optimal balance of stiffness and lightweight design without compromising stability. The base is machined for Arca Swiss quick-release clamps and features threaded holes for direct attachment to 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 threaded studs on tripods and monopods, ensuring secure mounting.
