Westcott Deflector plate for Rapid Box

This deflector, designed to be screwed into selected Rapid Box softboxes, transforms the softbox into a light modifier with the light characteristics of a beauty dish. The deflector is positioned to catch the majority of the flash light and reflect it towards the silver-coated interior of the softbox, from where it is redirected forward. This prevents the formation of a hotspot. Additionally, the indirect flash through the deflector and the inner surfaces of the softbox results in relatively directed light with a gently falling brightness towards the edges, providing soft illumination with significantly softened shadows and smooth transitions between light and shadow. Finally, the modified softbox creates round, naturally appearing reflections on smooth surfaces or in the eyes of a photographed person.
