An advanced Surface with a not-so-advanced implementation.
WD Black SN750 SE
1000 GB, M.2 2280Product details
This SSD transfers data using PCI-Express, leaving traditional SATA SSDs far behind in terms of transfer rates. M.2 SSDs are installed via the M.2 socket on the motherboard. Due to their compact dimensions, they are particularly suitable for use in ultrabooks and mini-PCs, but can also be used in standard computers. This SSD shines especially in systems with NVMe support. Users benefit from high throughput, high IOPS, and low latency. Unlike the older AHCI protocol, which was developed for traditional spinning drives, NVMe prevents performance drops, offers faster transfer of large amounts of data, increased boot speeds, and improved system response times. With 3D NAND (also known as V-NAND or 3D V-NAND), the transistors are oriented vertically to the chip surface, and the flash memory lines are arranged in layers on top of each other. This achieves a higher storage density while simultaneously reducing the risk of interference between the cells. Thanks to the shortened connections between the cells, electrical performance increases, and consequently, power consumption decreases.
