Based on the "The Lord of the Rings" film trilogy, Lego The Lord of the Rings tells the original stories from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, taking players on an epic adventure filled with whimsical Lego humor and typical Lego creativity.

Tasked with the dangerous mission of destroying an ancient magical ring that threatens goodness, Frodo must leave his peaceful home. However, the ring must first be found, and the path to Mount Doom – the only place where the ring can be destroyed – is fraught with danger and populated by orcs and even worse beasts.

To assist Frodo, a fellowship is formed – Aragorn the Ranger, Gandalf the Wizard, Legolas the Elf, Gimli the Dwarf, Boromir the warrior from Gondor, and Frodo's hobbit friends Merry and Pippin. Players will experience the Lord of the Rings saga in Lego style, exploring wonders, solving timeless puzzles, and battling seemingly endless hordes of enemies in their quest for the One Ring.
