The OM4 fiber is used for existing 1 and 10 Gb/s applications as well as future 40 and 100 Gb/s applications. It is suitable for longer distances of over 550 m at 10 Gb/s and for backbones. With an effective modal bandwidth of 4700 MHz-km, the OM4 fiber is also particularly well-suited for shorter distances in data centers, as well as for high-performance computing applications.
