It is the year 1912. As the United States rises to a world power, the floating city of Columbia is celebrated by the public as a powerful symbol of American ideals. However, what began as a sign of hope suddenly turns into a massive catastrophe when the city mysteriously disappears into the clouds. The greatest achievement in American history – gone in an instant. The player takes on the role of former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, who is sent to Columbia to rescue the young Elizabeth, who has been held captive there since childhood. DeWitt develops a relationship with Elizabeth and can combine his abilities with hers to escape from Columbia, which is literally falling from the sky. DeWitt fights against deadly foes both indoors and outdoors at great heights, using dozens of new weapons and abilities.
