Der teurere der beiden HD-Einsteiger von Toshiba bietet mit acht Megapixeln die höchste Fotoauflösung, mit 45 Grad allerdings auch den geringsten Weitwinkel. Trotz kompakter Maße lässt er sich ordentlich greifen, der starre Zoomhebel macht es aber schwer, Brennweiten zu verlagern. Bis auf die gute Farbgebung kann der SX 900 in der Bildqualität jedoch nicht mithalten.

Besonders bei der Materialwahl ist uns der Toshiba SX900 sehr negativ aufgefallen. Ansonsten wäre dieses Gerät aufgrund der kompakten Maße und dem Wechseladapter für UK-Steckdosen ein idealer, wenn auch vergleichsweise teurer, Reisebegleiter.

Für 349 Euro bietet die SX900 Funktionen oberhalb der Einsteigerklasse; viele Ideen wie die freie Tastenbelegung oder den konfigurierbaren HDMI-Ausgang sollte sich die Konkurrenz einmal anschauen. In der Bildqualität kann sich die SX900 mit aufgezeichneten Clips dagegen nicht absetzen, die Live-Möglichkeit könnte dagegen Event-Filmer oder Besitzer einer Intensity-Schnittkarte durchaus interessieren.
