The Tech 21 SH1 is a well-thought-out signature bass preamp by bassist Steve Harris. The 2-channel preamp offers independent gain and level controls for each channel. In terms of sound, it can produce not only heavy metal bass tones but also crisp attack and high presence. The equalizer with 2 mid-range controls allows for precise adjustment of the mid frequencies, making it suitable for any music genre. The Bite button, which can be activated, provides extra bite in the highs for the typical Steve Harris sound. The right footswitch activates the chromatic tuner. In addition to the unbalanced low-Z 1/4" output for connecting to an amp, the preamp features an XLR output with a ground lift button, allowing it to be connected directly to a mixer or audio interface.
