The world has fallen under the control of the Shinra Electric Power Company, a sinister corporation that has seized the life force of the planet itself in the form of Mako energy. In the megalopolis of Midgar, an anti-Shinra organization called Avalanche is resisting. Cloud Strife, a former member of the elite unit SOLDIER and now a mercenary, assists the group. He is unaware of the epic consequences that await him.
