The already award-winning Tetris Effect, even before its release, combines the proven gameplay of Tetris with themed levels, audiovisual effects, exciting advancements of the game principle, and PlayStation VR compatibility.

What makes Tetris Effect special? Tetris Effect adds a new strategic layer to the core experience of Tetris with the new "Zone" mechanic.

When lines are cleared in Tetris Effect, a meter bar fills up in the lower left corner of the playfield. As long as there are a few meters left, the player can enter the Zone. When the Zone is activated, time stops, and falling blocks at the top of the screen are frozen until the player decides to move them. Here, the player can not only escape critical situations. The brilliance of the Zone mechanic lies in its potential for scoring: the player not only receives bonus points for clearing lines in Zone mode, but the game also stops counting the cleared lines in the currently played level.

This offers experienced players the opportunity to extend the levels longer than they would normally last, leading to a greater number of cleared regular lines and Tetris lines, resulting in more points and cool new terms like "Octoris," "Dodecatris," and "Decahexatris" when huge blocks are cleared in Zone mode.
