Still a masterpiece, but slowly the ravages of time are eating away at it.
Why beat about the bush: Nobody really needs this new edition. Not Sony, who will just add another new edition to the already meagre exclusive library of their console and maybe go out for a nice meal twice with the extra pocket money. Not us, who can pick up the marginally weaker PS3 original for peanuts at the nearest flea market...
The fact that I found both parts that came before it significantly better in no way diminishes the merits of this brutal, uncompromising and, on the right difficulty level, wonderfully challenging vendetta. God of War 3 at its technical best is an enrichment for every platform that only lunatics turn up their noses at...
For me, God of War 3 still marks the high point of the series ? and at the same time the peak for this type of game, even if Kratos has top-class competitors in Bayonetta and Devil May Cry. That was already the case on the PS3 and on the PS4, too, the Spartan has lost none of his fascination for me, in contrast to his last appearance in God of War: Ascension...
