The SST-TS14B from SilverStone offers a simple way to remove the often rarely used optical drive from a laptop and convert it into an additional 2.5-inch slot for an SSD or HDD. Alternatively, the drive bay can also be used as an external hard drive enclosure and connected to a PC or laptop via USB. This allows for a significant and easy expansion of storage capacity.

With the SilverStone adapter, all SSDs and HDDs with a standard SATA connection and a height of up to 9.5 millimeters can be installed. As with optical drives, the SST-TS14B employs a so-called push system to make swapping the installed 2.5-inch drive very straightforward. The drive bay can then serve as a new home for the removed optical drive, which has now become portable.
