With the Riser Cable SST-RC03B-220 from SilverStone, the PCI Express x16 slot available on a motherboard can be strategically positioned elsewhere in or outside the case. This is particularly useful when frequently swapping different graphics cards and wanting to avoid damaging the motherboard slot or desiring more space during the installation of expansion cards.

In modding projects or in cases that deviate from the standard ATX format, it may be necessary or advantageous to place PCI Express expansion cards in unconventional locations. A special benefit of a riser cable is the ability to position graphics cards vertically, allowing for parallel mounting to the motherboard. This way, the cooler of the card can be fully showcased.
