The Silverstone SST-CS280 is a compact Mini-ITX case and the ideal host for a sleek and even portable NAS with a small form factor for home or office use. Users looking to switch to such a small form factor do not have to compromise on high storage capacity for extensive multimedia files, as the SST-CS280 can accommodate a total of nine 2.5-inch drives. Eight of these drives are located behind a brushed aluminum front panel and can be comfortably mounted via lockable, hot-swappable drive cages. A customized backplane is used, supporting both SATA and SAS interfaces, ensuring high compatibility with modern hard drives and SSDs. However, it should be noted that to use a SAS drive, a motherboard or expansion card with a hardware SAS controller is required. In addition to the eight drive cages at the front, there is another 2.5-inch slot inside the case designed for Mini-ITX and Mini-DTX motherboards. The SST-CS280 also features two low-profile expansion slots that allow for the installation of graphics cards or expansion cards with a maximum length of 220 mm and a maximum width of 60.75 mm. Furthermore, there are two 80 mm fans for efficient ventilation located behind the front, protected from dust by a removable dust filter.
