The swivelling head of the Sekonic L-398A allows you to hold down the measurement button and walk through the set to check the lighting conditions. When you release the button, the meter's analogue display pointer locks into place, allowing for easy-to-read exposure calculations. Exposure values are displayed for both still image and film applications.

Precise light measurements in any context. Incident light measurements can be taken with the Lumisphere with an angle of over 180 degrees for general measurements of three-dimensional objects or with the Lumi Selective Area for measurements of the illumination ratio between highlights and shadow areas or the incidence of light on objects with a flat field, such as works of art. The Lumi Selective Area measurement can also be used for measurements outdoors or in bright studio light.

Precise reflectance measurements and quick readings in various shooting situations. For reflected readings, a flat Lumigrid replaces the Lumisphere. If you want to shoot with a fixed ISO value and a fixed shutter speed, you can use an optional slide set (direct reading slides), which facilitates readings in fast shooting situations.
