The Gee Bee Z, built to original size and named "City of Springfield," was an American racing aircraft from the 1930s, created with the sole purpose of winning the National Air Races in 1931. The Gee Bee Z was constructed in less than five weeks and was a small, robust airplane. It essentially consisted of the smallest possible airframe built around the largest possible engine. The scale model impresses with its flight capabilities but does not exhibit the notoriously difficult flying characteristics of the original; however, it still requires the skill of an experienced model pilot.
