What is a tri-color LED? Tri-color indicators include two different colored LEDs. By default, both LEDs illuminate symmetrically and emit light with a mixture of both colors. For example, red and green become yellow when both LEDs are illuminated, resulting in bright yellow light.

Why LEDs? LEDs have many advantages; longevity and low power consumption are the main selling points. Other reasons to consider include:

• Temperature: LEDs emit a much lower temperature compared to incandescent or neon lamps.
• Direction: LEDs emit light in only one direction, eliminating the need for additional components such as reflectors. However, this does not apply when the LED display is used as a PCB signal.
