Rollei F:X Pro Center GND8

The Rollei F:X Pro Center GND 8 is a graduated neutral density filter with a gradient. Unlike typical graduated filters that have a coating that fades to one side, the Center GND does not follow this pattern. The term "Center" indicates that the intensity of the tint decreases from the center of the filter in both directions, rather than ending with a hard cut in the middle, as seen with Hard GND filters.

Graduated neutral density filters (GNDs) are used for scenes where the brightness levels have a specific gradient and therefore require different exposures. A classic application for the Center GND is during a sunrise or sunset, where the sun is positioned centrally in the image and the brightness decreases in all directions. The Center GND perfectly balances this scenario by only darkening the brightest part of the image, while the areas above and below the horizon line remain unaffected. This allows for magical image compositions.

The GNDs are coated with a special Luminance Coating, resulting in a reflection-free filter performance of 99.5 percent. Even with high-resolution 150 MP cameras, no errors in the image are detectable. With the neutral gray coating, you can photograph your subjects exactly as the human eye perceives them. The filters are made from Gorilla Glass, which is extremely durable, light-transmissive, and color-neutral. The anti-scratch layer protects the filter glass from mechanical impacts and ensures that dirt such as mud, water, and grease can be easily removed. Heat and cold are also not an issue, as tested by Rollei at 40 degrees Celsius in the desert and minus 5 degrees in the mountains. In short: Rollei has never made better filters.
