The R&G Talcum Powder is a versatile accessory for model building, made from magnesium silicate hydrate. It is commonly used as a reinforcing, filling, and sliding agent in various applications, particularly in the processing of polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy resins. This lightweight, grayish-white powder enhances the properties of fillers by reducing shrinkage during curing and increasing sandability. Talcum is free from asbestos and quartz, making it a safe choice for various model building projects. It is not water-soluble and can be used in combination with resins to achieve the desired properties of the final product. Processing requires careful and lump-free mixing, with the amount added varying depending on the desired outcome. At an addition level of about 200%, the resin becomes pasteable, providing additional flexibility in application.
