R&G cotton flakes, bag/ 50 g

Produces lightweight, thixotropic fillers for epoxy, polyester, and polyurethane resins. Application area: manufacturing lightweight, non-flowing adhesives and free-flowing pressing compounds, as well as coupling layers in mold making, using a mixture of 50 vol.-% glass fiber chips and 50 vol.-% cotton flakes. Cotton flakes enhance dimensional stability as well as impact and abrasion resistance of the mold materials. Very well suited for epoxy, polyester, and polyurethane resins as well as rubber compounds. Good chemical resistance (including alkalis). Very cost-effective.

Bulk density: 4.5 liters of cotton flakes = 1 kg (0.22 g/cm³). Appearance: white flakes, fiber length: approx. 350 µm (typically 150–500 µm), fiber diameter: 10–25 µm (1–3 Denier), specific weight: 1.5 g/cm³, chars at 120 °C, decomposes at 150 °C, tensile strength up to approx. 800 N/mm². Insoluble in acetone, dimethylformamide, or 40% NaOH, water absorption approx. 0.3 g per g of cotton flakes. The volume indication serves to provide a better understanding of the delivery quantity. It refers to the loose bulk quantity. During transport and storage, the contents may compact.
