Competition is good! At last, Intel is releasing a good gaming CPU at a reasonable price. Yes, the i5 10400F is an excellent CPU sold at a reasonable price; versatile, low power consumption, low heat. We didn't really expect it, but it's a pleasure to use! The only thing that remains is an abysmal technological delay compared to its competitor and the price of the platform is very expensive (except for special offers). Still a new socket (LGA 1200), but the wind is changing...

The price/performance ratio of the CPU is unbeatable. Even the Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, which is often used in budget PCs, is beaten by this CPU in my opinion. For a price of currently 156 francs, even a boxed cooler is included and thus the offer is unbeatable in my opinion.
As described in itrocket's review, I also ran the CPU on a Z490 board with a 3999 MHz RAM and benefited from a big performance boost.
The only drawback is overclocking, which is not possible due to the F version.
Conclusion: I can only recommend the CPU for budget PCs. It is definitely worth the price, especially since a boxed cooler is included. Overclocking is not possible due to the missing K version. But the price is a lot lower.

I wanted a small upgrade from my i5 6500 which ran on a LGA 1151 board that could only support DDR 3 ram. In the low budget segment AMD is unfortunately nothing for gamers, that is also because AMD is supported by game developers worse (core load distribution / Nivida as a developer sponsor, etc.). Everyone should buy parts according to their own requirements, mine is low budget gaming in full HD and there the 10400F makes sense.
