Garmin eTrex 32x
Actually a great device...
The form factor itself is ideal to take it along on hikes and mountain tours.
Unfortunately, the technology is outdated. Don't try to load raster maps onto the device. This is possible, but the speed is unusable. Vector maps are just fine, but don't expect miracles.

Like the previous model, the eTrex32 is so slow that I no longer use it. It takes minutes to load map sections. This makes tour planning very time-consuming and frustrating. In addition, the operating software "Basecamp" constantly crashes or routes cannot be loaded onto the device. This is definitely not due to my computer, because two acquaintances with Garmin devices are also annoyed by the same symptoms. I cannot recommend this product at all and will keep my hands off Garmin in future. Very disappointing.

I bought this device (since returned) for the "Go To" option and impossible to enter an address or location. The first parameter to enter for this command is the country. And it is IMPOSSIBLE to enter Switzerland or Schweiz or Switzerland or... Whatever the country selected, it is not recognized and you are blocked. Impossible to go further! And this even outside with the GPS signals OK. This is such a big problem that I must have missed something. Even though I followed the instructions in the online manual to the letter. So returned device as totally useless for my desired purpose :-).

For me, a very good GPS device. The device that fulfils all my wishes at the same time does not exist (unfortunately). So I had to weigh up what was important for me:
a) Economical in consumption, but slow image build-up. For an overview and fast scrolling I use the mobile phone.
b) Easy to use in damp environments (fog, rain, snow). But no touch display.
c) Light and compact. Small screen (but this one has a great resolution!)

In my case, the device I received was super slow. The maps were terrible and hard to update. First map update took more than 3h. This device is like a return to the past (reminds me of 90's technology)

I had the brother Etrex 30. Never had a problem. Yes, it wasn't a chip but it was still faster and leaner than this 32x. Today, on a mtb outing, for a good half hour I lost the map view, I could only see half of it. Under the sun, unfortunately, it doesn't have a good visual rendition. Unfortunately I cannot recommend the purchase. Go to other products
