Fantec USB 3.0 to SATA adapter
Small and good adapter.not usable for 2.5" hard drives as it is. For 3.5" hard drives and usually large (built-in) DVD/BluRay drives with SATA connection, which you cannot install internally but want or have to use externally, you need a 12 V power supply, which you can connect to this converter. Often you already have such power supplies from external hard drives and if the round plug fits (not always the same diameter, as there is apparently no standard for this), you save yourself the purchase of a 12 V power supply. That's how it was with me. There is an almost identical version that is expensive because it comes with a power supply unit. But I had such power supplies left,

I overlooked the power supply.... :-(

Run it with an SSD on a Raspberry. Therefore requires additional power.
I bought the device for my Raspberry Pi because I have a lot of 3.5" HDDs lying around that I no longer need. The device works with Windows and Linux without any problems. I still had a 1.5A / 12V power supply at home that I could connect to it.

Luckily I had 2 spare power supplies, one of them provided a less stable voltage and the adapter did not work. The adapter worked more stably with the second power supply.
