Great board - but without drivers, typical ASUS!

The ASUS ROG Strix B650-A Gaming WiFi is a real gem and runs perfectly with my Ryzen 7950X3D. But - and this is almost a tradition at ASUS - drivers on the board? Not a chance! But don't worry, with a USB stick and a bit of patience you can sort it out.

    Conclusion:
Performance and design are hit and miss, but all the extra software takes away any joy you might have in setting up a clean PC. If you manage to sift through the bloatware jungle, you'll be rewarded with a great board. For everyone else: Maybe keep a machete handy. 🗡️😂

    Pro

    • Stylish design - futuristic and elegant, a real eye-catcher in any setup.
    • Runs like butter on warm toast with the Ryzen
    • More features than a Swiss army knife
    • More stable than my sleep rhythm

    Contra

    • No drivers - ASUS likes it exciting
    • More bloatware than your mobile after a year
    • ASUS tools? Rather ASUS brake

    Perfect

    Very good motherboard,
Has everything you need for a modern PC.
Plenty of rear ports, integrated heatsink for NVMe disks.

The only problem is, as usual, the manufacturer's programs, which are a disaster: poor optimisation,
spam, loss of resources and ultra-complicated to uninstall.
Fortunately, you can download the no-frills drivers directly from the ASUS site.

    Pro

    • Enough USB door
    • PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot
    • Thermal paste integrated into NVMe heatsinks
    • I/O shield integrated into the motherboard
    • Status LED
    • ASUS Stickers/Keyrings

    Contra

    • RGB (can be disabled in BIOS)
    • Malware/Bloatware ASUS Armory + Sonic Suit III

    Very good motherboard

This is a heavy motherboard with a lot of metal part. The VRM is provided with a big heatsink to play with overclocking. It has many options like M2 PCI5 4X and reinforced PCI graphic card slot. The audio chipset is one of the best on the market.

    Pro

    • Big Heatsink
    • M2 PCI 5.0 4X
    • Reinforced Graphic PCI slot
    • Best audio chipset

    Top B650 Mainboard

Since no graphics cards can make use of PCIE 5.0 at the moment anyway, this B650 board is an excellent choice for a Ryzen 7000 system.

Be sure to update the bios before use

Attention with Asus B650 WiFi Gaming Mainboard and Ryzen 7 7800X3D

The Asus B650 WiFi Gaming motherboard in combination with the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D has led to numerous cases worldwide in which the CPU and motherboard have
burnt out. The reason for this is an excessively high SOC voltage in the delivery state.

This problem can be solved by updating the BIOS. The update is strongly recommended before further expanding or using the PC - especially when using the 7800X3D. I myself use exactly this combination and had no more problems after the BIOS update. Without this update, however, serious damage can occur.

    Pro

    • TOP price-performance ratio

    Contra

    • Missing BIOS updates led to cases in which the CPU and mainboard burned out together.
