Full of hope for perfect, mobile music listening, I bought the Albrecht DR 54 DAB+ and installed it 1-2-3 in my 10-year-old E-Benz estate car. The supplied active antenna can be attached or glued to the right A-pillar and the windscreen without any problems. The cable is plenty long and can be hidden well.
I glued the small DAB device to the dashboard using the supplied adapter and connected the 12V socket to the cigarette socket using a USB adapter.
The set-up is done quickly. Set the radio to 87.6 MHz. Plug in the DAB+ adapter, press the button for a few seconds and it searches for the digital stations. This happened in Siebnen SZ. The music fills the car in crystal clear, very broadband quality. I zap through all the stations and am thrilled. To test it, I drive briefly to Schmerikon around Lake Zurich to consolidate the experience. But things turn out differently than expected. Unlike FM, there is no reception in the tunnel. After the tunnel, the DAB+ needs about 10 seconds until reception is restored. We continue to the Schmerikon exit, where suddenly everything goes silent and reception is no longer possible. This continues until well after Schmerikon. Now I realise that the reception coverage is still far from what I am used to. What a pity...
Handy, small and inexpensive. Easy to assemble.
Pro
Unsuitable for the car as the display is much too small Reception is also not ok Transmitter search is a hassle - Better to buy a larger Albrecht device.
Very simple assembly.
With Conrad price, super price-performance ratio.
