Yes, it works, you can press the Plus icon (top right) in the Xiaomi Home app and select the humidifier. The app will then guide you through the setup.
Depends on the air exchange, the outside temperature, the room temperature and the desired RH.

The unit can produce approx. 400ml (=g) per hour.
The mist comes from the ultrasonic nebulisation. With such devices, it can also happen that limescale is deposited everywhere from the limescale in the water. I would choose a different model, the Xiaomi Smart Mi humidifier, for example, works without ultrasound and there is no white deposit on objects. This one works with rotating discs and evaporates the water with it.

For me, it was a bit hazy with unfiltered water. There is an official filter from Xiaomi: https://m.aliexpress.com/item/1005001832147226.html (unfortunately not available in Switzerland). But I have never tested it. I filter the water with the ZeroWater filter (available on Amazon), so there are no more particles in the water.
yes, it can be set to the desired humidity and the light can also be switched off.
when you open the application, you have several options.
1st - Low
2nd - Midium
3rd - High
4.- Humidity (here you can select the desired humidity up to 70%)
5 - Scheduled on/off
6.- Led display (here you can switch off the light)
7.- Notification sound (here you can deactivate the factory-set sound)
That should be sufficient, but you should also bear in mind that the humidifier is equipped with a fan, which is clearly audible. There is another solution from Xiaomi that works with rotating discs, as known from the Venta air washers. The power consumption would be significantly lower and the noise is also less.
You can also fill it very well from above. Personally, I find the solution with passive evaporation more optimal, as it also prevents the rooms from being overhumidified. It is also suitable for rooms of 40 square metres and works very reliably. The cleaning effort is also there, but it is kept within limits.

I suspect a defect in the existing fan. The warranty could help, or if that is not possible, a spare part, available cheaply from Aliexpress, for example, could also help. It is also possible that minerals in the water used cause deposits to form in the ultrasonic atomiser.
I generally recommend only filtered water for ultrasonic nebulisers, which I can quickly get together with a simple water filter, for example. Or alternatively the humidifier models that evaporate the water with rotating discs, e.g. this one:

They don't leave any white marks on furniture and can also be used without any problems next to a Xiaomi or other air purifier.
